Korokke, popular salted croquette
The korokke コロッケ is a derivative of the French word croquette. Indeed, this one was inspired by Western cuisine around the 19th century. It is a very popular snack in Japan and especially among children. It is usually made of mashed potatoes, with onions and minced beef. The whole thing is mixed together and forms a ball the size of your hand. Then this ball of korokke is rolled with flour, then with egg yolk and finally with breadcrumbs of panko (Japanese breadcrumbs are thicker than the French ones). Then we fry the whole.
