Nori leaves are dried seaweed used in many Japanese dishes, including sushi and maki. They are also an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
In this article, we’ll learn the recipe for seasoned nori leaves called aji nori 味のり. These leaves are really delicious to nibble on or add to your favorite dishes.
Personally, I love aji nori, I simply eat it with Japanese white rice, it’s so addictive! It’s quick to make and delicious, so don’t hesitate!

Japanese Aji Nori recipe, seasoned nori seaweed leaves
Equipment
- 1 food brush
- baking tray
- baking paper
Ingredients
- 2 nori seaweed leaves
- 2 pinch of salt
- toasted sesame oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C. Place a baking sheet on a baking tray. Place 2 sheets of nori side by side.
- Using a brush soaked in sesame oil, brush the leaves on both sides. Don't hesitate to add more oil to your brush.
- Then season with salt, also on both sides. Place in the oven for 5 minutes.
- When they come out of the oven, your nori sheets will be slightly lighter. Cut into strips either with scissors or by hand. Enjoy straight away!

You can use other oils, such as olive oil.
You can also use different seasonings, such as shoyu soy sauce, toasted sesame, flavored salt, etc.

Aji nori also goes well with onigiri. Take a piece and wrap it as shown in the photo. It’ll be nice and crispy!

Grilled nori seaweed is very crunchy and easily breakable, so if you like, you can crumble it over dishes or a salad, for example. But do so at the last moment, to avoid softening.
